On July 20, 2023, we finally got the official story trailer for Spider-Man 2, showing off new details of the story, as well as some gameplay and cutscenes, including the first look at the beefed-up Venom villain in-game. Again, there are very few gameplay details available about Spider-Man 2’s gameplay, but it’s bringing back the open-world version of New York that made the first game so successful. It’s also expanding to include some of the boroughs that were absent before, and the water around the city will play a larger role. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is set to be released exclusively on the PlayStation 5, and won’t be available on any other platforms at launch. The game’s official website mentions that the game has been “developed for the PlayStation 5 console,” and there is currently no PS4 version listed. While Insomniac have since released a Miles Morales spin-off and announced a standalone Wolverine game, a fully-fledged sequel was only a matter of time.

Of course, it’s a stun gun — she’s no Lethal Protector — but the inclusion of some offensive mechanic makes MJ’s sections much more bearable to play, and dare I say, fun? There are other guest characters to helm as well, but for the sake of spoilers, let’s just stick to the fact that these portions of the game are massively improved in terms of gameplay and their contribution to the narrative. That being said, Spider-Man (2018) switched perspectives between its characters from mission to mission, and this is set to continue in the sequel.

Fan Adds A Feature To Marvel’s Spider-man 2 That Insomniac Should Have Included Long Ago

Climb up to the top of the building’s Northern face to find the Spider-Bot near the top. On the Western edge of this district is a long park that follows alongside the road.

As the story continues, we see several worlds colliding in the lives of Miles, Peter, and MJ. Miles, a student at Brooklyn Visions Academy, sees all of his friends solidifying their plans for college—but he is feeling left out. He’s been so focused on other things; he hasn’t had time to think about the future. There are plenty of directions he could go but trying to pick the ‘right’ one is overwhelming and paralyzing.

At this point, Harry reveals that he has merged with the Symbiote, which has given him powers that help Peter save the day. The two leave the amusement park, thrilled at the possibilities for the future as Act 1 comes to a thrilling close. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is filled with fun things for patient players to find throughout their adventure. Two editions of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be available when it launches on PC on January 30, including the Standard Edition and Digital Deluxe Edition (DDE).

The Deluxe version of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 PC will feature all Standard Edition content and additional stuff. Standard Edition includes all the latest updates for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 since the game launched on PS5. This edition contains 14 new suits, a New game+ mode, Ultimate Levels, New Symbiotic Suit Styles, Time of Day Options, Post-Game Achievements, Action Figure Mode in Photo Mode, a Screen Reader and Audio Descriptions. Peter also briefly appeared in Across the Spider-Verse in both versions of his Advanced Suit.

The focus on Wolverine could be another contributing factor as to why Spider-Man 2 didn’t get any new story DLC. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 follows Peter Parker and Miles Morales as they valiantly try to save New York, each other, and the ones they care for. Facing multiple iconic villains like Venom, Kraven the Hunter, and Lizard, their strength and resolve will be tested as they face these dangerous threats.

Spider-Man 2’s main story can be completed in around 12 to 15 hours, while getting 100% completion will take somewhere within 25 to 30 hours for most players. Some of the side content is underwhelming, but there is a lot of great stuff to check out as well. Instead of arriving on Earth via a meteorite, as it did in the video game, the Venom symbiote came to Earth already bonded to Spider-Man, fixing itself to him while he participated in the cosmic showdown SECRET WARS (1984).

While the game left some stories open for more down the road, Insomniac Games has addressed whether Spider-Man 2 will get any story DLC. The final trailer shows more of Venom and a newly revealed villain in the form of Sandman. It also shows more of the Venom in the symbiote form and how it affects Peter mentally with the black suit, as well as how Venom becomes his own humanoid form by latching onto one of the characters. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s gameplay and its previous iterations, similarly plays like the Arkham series, Assassin’s Creed series, and even Ghost of Tsushima.

Digital Deluxe Edition

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 stars Peter Parker and Miles Morales, facing off against three iconic Spider-Man villains. w188 is Kraven the Hunter (Sergey Kravenoff), who arrives to New York alongside his gang to hunt who he perceives to be a worthy opponent.
